New Eastway Youth Hub
Eastway Youth Hub - Brand new facility for young Hackney Wick residents
Mayor Philip Glanville launched Young Hackney Eastway (behind The Old Baths Site) at 80 Eastway in Hackney Wick on 17 February 2022.
This fantastic new facility will bring real benefits to the local community and opportunities for young people to get involved in sport and lead healthy lives.
Hackney Wick young people highlighted the need for the sports space in the youth research commissioned by Wick Award a few years ago.
Young people have been involved at all stages of the design and planning process, with their ideas reflected in the final designs for the classroom and the name of the facility, which will be run by Young Hackney. It features a new multi-use sports area, classroom, office, toilets, storage area for local groups and a courtyard.
Young Hackney Ambassadors
Kotryna (14) volunteers as a Young Hackney Ambassador supporting activities every week and was very impressed on her first visit to the space she helped to design.
“ It’s great to have inside and outside space in Hackney Wick so we can do art and sports activities here”.
Kaimana (15) - also a Young Ambassador - said she is looking forward to joining and supporting tennis and dodgeball activities at the Eastway Hub.
The project was funded by Hackney Council, with additional grants from the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund and London Legacy Development Corporation.
