Wick Award is saying goodbye to our fabulous Communications Apprentice Nia O’Garro Simpson. Nia has been at Wick Award for 15 months in which time she has developed a communications strategy, re-designed the website and created a social media profile for the organisation.
Nia has completed her apprenticeship based in Hackney Council Communications Team and placed part-time with Wick Award.
Creating opportunities for local young people is one of Wick Award’s three key priorities.
“We wanted to offer a young resident a real career opportunity while finding a new way to communicate with all residents in the ward. We were able to buy into Hackney Council’s Award Winning apprenticeship scheme to find the help we needed to reach residents”. Nick, Partnership Board Member
“We would encourage local businesses and smaller organisations which might not have the resources to support an apprenticeship independently to consider working in partnership with the Council to benefit from the best young talent in the borough” Chris Kennedy, Partnership Member.
